For some reason, this year, I have not been too much in the mood for the holidays. I forced myself, yesterday, to put up some decorations. The past few weeks I've thought about it, and all I could think about was "ugh the mess, the time..I have no time to put this stuff up..." and on and on. But I did it and I do feel better towards the season. I've been listening to Xmas music, on and off, since mid-November. That didn't help. We got our first Xmas card from a friend. That helped but not much. I still have this overwhelming sensation that I wish it was January already. Am I the only one that feels this way?

Hoping to put up the tree and wrap some gifts soon. Maybe that Will help.

Hi All,

I realized I haven't posted in a while, it's simply because, well, my life is boring and I haven't had much of anything to post about. Work has been ok. Things are slowly picking up here, which is good for my business and my sanity. Unfortunately, today, I have not spoken to a single guest and I am working 12 hours today. Gotta pray the phones start ringing, or I'm not going to be a happy camper.

My secret shopping is going well. I have made a bit of money so far. Not much, but a help. I'm looking forward to doing more of them.

Our weight loss has been going great. I am down about 40 pounds (hovering around the 180 mark) and C is down over 50 (around the 215 ara). We will see how things go after the holidays. As long as we keep up on what we eat and how much we exercise we should be ok.

C is on the job hunt again. I actually don't think he ever stopped. He is still trying to decide if he should jump on a better paying job or wait for the job in his district that may,or may not, happen soon. I will keep you posted on that.

The dogs are well, as is the house. Gearing up for the holidays here. Considering the Xmas displays are up right next to the Halloween displays we don't have much choice but to gear up for the holidays. Well, I like them so I am excited about them.

My birthday is coming up, woohoo. and i get to work all day. BUMMER!!! O well, gotta do what you gotta do. Hoping to go out that Sat or maybe that thurs. Who knows.

The economy sucks

You know the economy is bad when the latest shipment of Mallomars are much smaller cookies than they use to be. They are almost "human" bite size. What a let down. But that's what companies have to do to keep the sweets going.

In other news....I have been doing secret shopping the past month and I must say its actually been fun. I have done 4 shops over the past month.. each a little different. They are very easy to do as well. I signed up on about 50 different secret shopping site. I get emails daily on different shops in my area. If I like the area and the shop and I'm available to do the shop apply for it. If I am chosen I gain access to all the information that is necessary for the shop, what to look for, when to go, what to purchase, etc. I print it out and go over all that is expected. The day of the shop I go as a regular customer observe as much as possible. I normally have to keep track of the time, associates name, etc etc. After the shop is done i report the information on the website of the company the sent the shop to me. Normal reports take about 30-40 min to put in and shop are normally no more than 30 min.

The reports are submitted and within a few days I get an email with either a grade or request more information on the shop. You are graded on a scale of 1-10 on how well your shop report was. So far I got two 9s and one 8. Not bad for just starting. Plus I've made $65 (if my last shop goes through correctly).

This last shop was a tough one. I was required to record the shop. I was given a phone number to call and use to record the conversation. So I walk in and start a conversation with the sales agent behind the desk. About 5 minutes into the shop I hear, in a loud blaring voice, "YOUR RECORDING HAS BEEN SAVED AND WILL BE AVAILABLE...." I was mortified, but I kept my cool, excused myself and reset the phone. Five minutes later it happened again. After that I gave up on it and shut off the phone, but continued the shop. I hope this doesn't effect me much, in terms of getting my pay, because it wasn't my fault. But we shall see.

Boring Days

Hi all,

I havn't posted much recently because my life has not been that interesting. Kim and I did go to see Julie and Julia on Sunday. I thought the movie was very very good. Very entertaining, great storyline. Just all around fun. We then spend the day together, had dinner and played bowling on Wii. It was a nice day.

Other than that there has not been much of anything going on in my life. :( Bummer.

I have held off on the job hunt. I have come to the realization that even though the pay isn't that great at my job and I havn't gotten a raise in 3 yrs, it's still steady work and I really shouldnt complain about it. I will anyway, but i shouldn't. :) I still look online for jobs and if something really great pops up I will apply for it, but I am not holding my breath.

The house is finally done. We received our last piece of artwork a few days ago. It's up in the dining room. THAT's it. No more big expenses till we pay off these. LOL

O well, back to "work"

Hello all,

For anyone who I didn't tell, I was offered a job at Sak's 5th Ave. in the Jewelry dept. It was a full commission position. I did not take the job because the HR woman was not clear about how much I will probably make. I asked several times how much first time agents normally make, or how much have the past 10 made in the first year. She would give me very vague. Meanwhile, while waiting to give my answer to her I got a call back from Ashley Furniture. Again, full commission, but this time the woman told me what i would expect to make my first year, what agents make in general, and the max salespeople have made in the past yr. That, alone made me feel more comfortable with going to Ashley Furniture and rejecting Saks. Sad huh. I could have done really well at Saks, but their vagueness on the potential salary left a bad taste in my mouth. My interview with Ashley furniture is on Thurs at 1. Send the good vibes.

In other news, we are heading to Six Flags on Monday.. UM, WOOHOO, I GUESS. Well it will be a fun day of me getting ragged upon. :-D

Work is getting busy, finally. Days are flying. Still getting paid the same amount, thus the reason I'm looking for a new job, but at least the day goes by faster.

Home renovations are done, THANK GOD. 3 weeks and way too many headaches, but it's done. tile is replaced, counter tops are installed, walls are painted. BUDGET IS DRAINED!!!!! But it's all worth it. The house is beautiful. And we don't have to do anything like this for at least 20 years.

Yes folk, a fast and easy way to lose weight. We are in the process of renovating our kitchen and the plan has worked great for us. There is no oven or microwave to cook in, no dishwasher or sink to clean in and the fridge is in the living room at the moment. Anything we can eat has to be ready to eat (like fruit or yogurts) and not require much else in the way of preparations. Our plan will probably be for about 2 weeks. Between the new tiles and counter tops we will be waiting a bit of time before the kitchen is back in full working order. Until then its take out and cold cuts. WOO HOO.

But seriously we are in the process of getting the renovations done to our kitchen. The new tile floors will be done by Saturday (they started Monday) and they came to measure for the counter tops this morning. So things are going according to plan. However we have those unexpected expenses that pop up, such as an electrical outlet shorting out. But once its done its done, and will be worth it...I HOPE!!!!!

In other news, I have a second interview this Friday for my, potential, new job. Things are looking pretty good that I will get offered this position. I will keep you posted how it goes.

Hello all. Sorry I haven't been posting recently. I was on vacation for 10 days. HAD AN AMAZING TIME!!!

Just a few things.

I started a Facebook profile. I already have about 30 people on my friends list. The site seems like way too much time and effort. I posted my pics from the cruise, but there are so many people commenting and posting its tough to keep up.

I got into an accident on Thurs. I was pulling out of a parking spot and a woman drove by I stopped as she passed. After she passed I continued pulling out. All the sudden, she decided to in revers and hit the back bumper of my car leaving a nice size dent. I called the police, filed a report. No one was injured, but this is just frustrating. Now I just have to wait and hear how liable she is and how much I'm going to have to pay to get my car fixed. Fortunately, my car is still drivable, the damage was just to the bumper, but it is one new expense that we did not need.

We are starting to do some major work to the house. We planned on painting a few rooms and getting new tiling done in the kitchen. While we were getting the paint we checked on the granite counter tops. We planned on getting that project done next year. HOWEVER, we see that they have a sale going on for 4 days only. %10 any counter top, PLUS $300 off, PLUS a free sink PLUS, no payments for 12 months on the Home Depot card. So we are getting the counter tops done this summer as well. WOO HOO

I might be getting a new job soon. More details on that soon.

That is all for now. I will update you on anything new developments.

Back From vacation

Hello all,

We returned from our cruise on Monday and I have to tell you it was an AMAZING experience. Christian and I took a 9 day cruise down to the Caribbean, leaving from NYC. We had taken this cruise before, same boat same route but this time we planned ahead.

The first time we went we had nothing planned, other than the cruise itself. When we got to the ports we were on our own.

THIS TIME, we planned excursions at each of the ports (except for one). They were perfect. We knew what were doing and where we were going. We didn't have to worry about getting lost and we didn't have to worry about missing the boat because if the excursion is booked through Princess Cruises and it runs late, the boat it guaranteed to wait for you. So we could enjoy everything we did.

We are already planning to go again next year.

Just a follow up on my car situation... I got a call back from the district manager on Strauss. We have been playing phone tag. He said he would give me back the service charges for the breaks and the tires. The total for that comes to about $160. It seems a little low, since the total for the repairs was close to $700, but after looking at the service invoice the majority of that price was the break parts themselves.

Now I am just looking into what he says about the tires. They were not necessary at all for this, esp since the problem was in the front of the car and the tires they replaced were the back. In addition to that, I brought the car in the month before to get the front tires replaced they made no mention of the back tires needing to be done.

Also, last month they had a "buy 3 tires, get the 4th one free" rebate being offered, not this month they were full price. I am hoping to hear back to him soon so I can get my refund done.

Sad news Pillsbury Doughboy‏

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community.
The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma
complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71.

Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities
turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack,
the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain
Crunch. The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man
who never knew how much he was kneaded.. Doughboy rose quickly in show
business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not
considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked
schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, he still was a crusty old
man and was considered a positive roll model for millions..

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, three children: John Dough,
Jane Dough and Dosey Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also
survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart..

The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

I do not know if i posted about this before, but if not here is the deal. I have been hearing a strange thumping sound from my car. it only occurs when I'm driving, not when I'm parked. The faster i accelerate the more constant it becomes to the point where it mimics a helicopter propeller.

I took the car the Strauss auto. I had been there once before for tires and they seemed reliable. I own a Saturn, and the closest dealership to go to is 20 miles away. They closed the 2 dealers closest to me in Feb. So to avoid having to go that far i took it o my local shop.

I take it in and they tell me I need new breaks and front tires. $700 worth of work. I called dad to see what he said. He said that sounded right. So I go ahead with the work. 4 HOURS LATER I AM FINALLY GETTING MY CAR BACK. I get in to go and i hear the same exact noise. WTF!!!!!!!! I turn around and go back in. I get the mgr, front desk clerk and mechanic all telling me that the the fixes may or may not have fixed the problem. The mechanic then tells me that it might be one of the bearings on the wheel, but the sound is not pronounced enough yet and to come back in a week. WHATEVER. I pay my bill and leave. I get on the highway to go home and the sound is just and strong as it was 4 hrs ago when i brought the car in.

I tell C about this and he tells me I made my decision a little too quickly and should have spoken to him or gone to another mechanic to get another opinion. I felt like i was taken advantage of, so i contacted the Better Business Bureau to complain. I get a call from Strauss yesterday asking me to come in and talk about how can we resolve this problem. I have the mgr telling me that he wished I didn't contact the BBB. Well I wish you'd fixed my car correctly the first time..is what I wanted to reply, but I didn't.

I couldn't go yesterday because my car was at another mechanics in town getting evaluated. Turns out it was the transmission. Had nothing to do with the breaks or the front tires. Plus the mechanic was nice enough to say that I should check with my dealer to make sure it was under warranty.(which I found out it was).

I'm going to go there today and ask for my money back. The truth is that i did need new breaks soon, but not at that moment. And the fact that I was told that the breaks were the problem really pissed me off. They saw me as an easy target and thought they could get away with it. They thought wrong.

I will let you know what happens.

So 3 weeks ago C started weight watchers with 2 of our friends. I decided to do it with him to see how it goes. Its been great. I started at 217 I'm down to 209.5. C has lost exactly 10 pounds. We are concerned about Easter, but, fortunately, if we do it correctly we will be fine. I think we will be ok, We just have to pay attention to what we eat and make good choices.

My ultimate goal would be to hit 199. I cannot remember the last time i was below 200. If i can get to 199 before the cruise (june 20th) I will be VERY excited.

I will keep you posted.

So my first deal has fallen through. The homeowners accepted a better offer. But not to worry, I sort of expected it to happen. Little back story. My clients wanted to buy a cute little house that I was doing an open house at. The problem was they had to sell there own house first. We put in an offer for the asking price (after negotiating back and forth) but we had to puck a contingency that we could not buy the house until their house was sold. We wait over a week to hear back from the sellers agent. The sellers had 2 other offers and are waiting on one more. So we wait, and wait, and wait some more. I finally get a call from the agent yesterday saying that the sellers accepted a offer that was 20% higher than ours w/o any contingency. I was a little bummed, but not surprised. My clients haven't even started showing their house yet.

On the flip side, my clients still want/need to sell. The house they are in is way to expensive for them. They are just barely making the mortgage and have no additional money. We have been looking at several other homes in the area. They have 4 kids, yes 4 kids, and do not want to have to switch them out of the schools that they are currently in. We are going to check out another house tomorrow. Hopefully this one will work for them and we can get another deal going. I also still have there listing to sell the house so, hopefully, that will come through soon.

C had an interview on Monday for a English Supervisor's position. He aced it. He was called back yesterday for a second round interview today. He is one of 3 candidates. The only drawback to the position is that the commute. The district is almost an hour away from where we live. He doesn't know if he wants the position, but I have an odd feeling he will take it. He will get use to the drive. :) Plus his salary will go up a nice chunk. Fingers crossed.
